First Post

Hey guys,

My name's Philip Ours, I'm 40, from Pittsburgh, USA. i'm volunteering with a group called the Mercy Foudnation in Thailand. THis is my second short-term missions trip to Thailand.

I'll be her for 3 months and hope to use this blog as a place to keep my friends up to date with whats going on here in Khao Lak.

Mercy FOudnation is building 51 homes for locals who lost their homes in the Tsunami. My main job right now is to cut and install 306 doors on the homes. Thats some job. My first job when I got here was to build an 80 foot retaining wall out of 3 X 12 X 8 cinderblocks and 5 feet high. Jokingly - thats a LOt of blocks.

Right now we have 41 of the 51 homes with doors hung and hopefully the other ten will be done by the end of the month when we turn the project over to the governement and the locals to move in.

Hope you enjoy the blog, it's my attempt to keep you all at home up to date with the progress here.

-Philip
